    DHX Media – Vancouver is looking for an experienced IT Manager to join our IT department! 

    The role:

     

    Our IT Department is the back-bone of our award-winning Animation Studio, providing the tools for our entire staff and ensuring everything runs smoothly! As the IT Manager, you will be the fearless leader overseeing the IT Department at our Vancouver Studio, and collaborating with our awesome Pipeline Team to keep our studio technologies fresh, fast, and forward-thinking!

    Responsibilities

    You will get to work on… 

    • Leading and mentoring the IT team and overseeing their daily responsibilities
    • Providing guidance, feedback, information and ideas to the IT team
    • Managing the internal IT ticketing system and ensuring tickets are prioritized and assigned correctly and efficiently
    • Working alongside the System Administrators to manage and maintain system infrastructure
    • Collaborating with the Pipeline team on determining studio technology needs and benchmarking new hardware and software
    • Assisting with the development, implementation and enforcement of studio policies and procedures
    • Assisting Director of IT with high level strategic planning
    • Monitoring studio equipment inventory levels and ordering hardware and software as needed
    • Overseeing the purchase of new IT equipment; creating purchase orders and tracking purchases
    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and service providers
    • Scheduling and leading weekly departmental meetings
    • Scheduling regular one-on-one meetings with the IT team, and monitoring and tracking department performance and progress
    • Project managing; establishing timelines, keeping track of project updates, and reporting on progress
    • Keeping up to date with latest technologies within the Animation Industry, and making suggestions on how to improve technology within the studio
    • Organizing and managing own work and files efficiently
    • Assisting HR and Talent Acquisition teams with hiring IT team members
    • Other tasks and responsibilities as required

    Qualifications

    • You have 3-5 years’ experience working in an animation production environment
    • You have at least 3 years’ experience managing an IT Department
    • You have effective and professional communication skills
    • You are able to motivate, mentor and coach a talented and diverse team
    • You possess strong time management and organization skills

    • You are able to work autonomously
    • You are forward-thinking and enjoy challenging the status quo

    Specific skills we’d love to see…

    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft platforms including Office 365, Windows OS, Windows Server, Windows Desktop, etc.
    • Experience with VMware, Dell EMC Isilon and Box is preferred
    • Experience with Autodesk Software, Adobe Suite, Toon Boom Software, Python, Avid, Shotgun and other animation production software/scripting is a definite asset
    • Knowledge of PC hardware as well as animation-specific hardware (e.g. Wacom Hardware)
