    DHX Media – Halifax is looking for an experienced System Adminstrator to join our IT department! 

    The role:

     

    Our IT Department is the back-bone of our award-winning Animation Studio, providing the tools for our entire staff and ensuring everything runs smoothly! 

    Responsibilities

    • Play a lead role in the administration of IT-related purchases, including:
    • Working with vendors to obtain quotes on hardware and software
    • Generation of Purchase Orders and shepherding them through the approval process
    • Tracking all IT leases and arranging return of equipment at lease end
    • Tracking IT-related inventory
    • Provide desktop support to production staff and artists’ workstations, including:
    • Taking a lead role in assisting production staff, artists and software department with technical problems
    • Troubleshooting and administering peripherals, printers, photocopiers and VoIP systems and devices
    • Ensuring all computer systems are up to date with security patches, virus software, and application patches
    • Providing hardware support, including working with hardware vendors to troubleshoot, RMA and fix damaged or faulted hardware
    • Troubleshooting basic network problems
    • Work closely with the IT manager and other IT staff to brainstorm ideas and diagnostics to solve technical issues and improve the operations of the IT Department and DHX Studios as a whole
    • Keep up to date with current technologies
    • Be open to integrating new ideas and methodologies
    • Be mindful of the safety, security and confidentiality of DHX Studios and its staff and clients
    • Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner

    Qualifications

     

    • 3+ years’ experience in IT role
    • Formal education/degree in computer systems is preferred
    • Thorough understanding of Windows 7 and Windows 10
    • Well-versed in Windows Server 2012 and 2016
    • Familiarity with Office 365 and Microsoft Exchange
    • Strong understanding of TCP/IP
    • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix
    • Apple OSX knowledge is useful
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Great team player
    • Highly organized with an ability to multitask
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment
    • Willing to learn new technologies and operating environments
    • Proactive in anticipating the needs of production
    • Experience in a Media & Entertainment Production Environment would be considered an asset
    • Familiarity with Production software such as Avid, Maya, Houdini, zBrush, Nuke, etc., would be considered an asset
