    WildBrain Studios is looking for an experienced Design Generalist to join our team!  You may have known us as DHX Media – we’ve recently changed our name to reflect our renewed commitment to pushing the creative and focusing on the artist experience.     The role:


    The Design Generalist role is perfect for a person who loves to mix it up and try new challenges! We’re searching for talented artists who are experienced in multiple aspects of design, including Props, Characters and BGs, Rotations, Colour and/or Cleanup. We're looking for portfolios that demonstrate variety, passion and a strong understanding of the different areas of design for one of our 2D animated series! 



    You will get to:

    • Work with the Art Director and other Designers to create engaging, performable characters and props according to the style of the production
    • Translate character descriptions and attitudes from script to visual design
    • Submit multiple design variations and revisions based on feedback from Directors
    • Create model sheets of character turnarounds and facial/anatomical expressions and create clean line work
    • Implement colour schemes for the Character/Prop and/or BG Designs, utilizing a strong sense of how colours complement one another for the requested costumes, mood, setting, time of day, etc.
    • Complete other design-related tasks and responsibilities as required for completion of the project

    • You produce designs that show a strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, staging and dynamism
    • You are able to take direction and work collaboratively within a team
    • You have the ability to communicate professionally and positively
    • You have excellent attention to detail
    • You are well-organized with good time management skills

     Specific skills we’d love to see… 

    • Strong drawing ability and a solid sense of design for 2D animation
    • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to adapt to multiple production styles
    • Experience in character rotations or character/prop colour on a series preferred
    • Previous experience in character and/or prop design on a series is a definite asset
    • Proficiency in Flash and Photoshop
    • Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school desired
    • Experience in 3D Design is an asset
